Director visa in Qatar

Qatar prices an executive by the exact words of the job title and by who the employer is. We check both against the published lists before anything is filed.

When a Qatar director needs their own status

The exact job title sets the price

Chairman, chief executive, operating, technology and financial officer are one figure. Every other executive title is a higher one, and the gap between them is sixty per cent.

Your employer has to be on a list

The executive route accepts a contract only from certain kinds of company. A perfectly real business outside those categories closes the route by itself.

A corporate title is not a permit

Appointment by the board and a signature on the commercial register are company records. Permission to live and work here is a separate decision by a separate authority.

Ten years, and nobody holds the leash

The executive status runs up to ten years and is renewable without a sponsor. Leaving the employer stops being the event that ends your residence.

The other door reads years, not salary

Permanent residence counts how long you have lawfully lived here and asks for Arabic. Salary does not open it, and time cannot be bought.

What you get

  • Your title read the way the published criteria read it
  • The employer checked against the accepted categories
  • Attested experience, degree and statements assembled once
  • The nomination sequence run in the right order
  • A plain answer on whether the longer door is open too

What Qatar asks a director

Two doors are open to a senior officer here, and they are built on different things. One reads the employment contract and prices it by title. The other reads the calendar and asks how long you have already lived in the country.

How the Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong answer the same question is on director and executive visas; the rest of our work here is on our Qatar page.

The two doors and what each reads

Executive residency

Run as part of the national residency programme by the investment agency, with the labour ministry issuing the identity card and the special work permit. The employer nominates you; you do not apply alone.

What the executive door reads

A monthly salary from QAR 50,000 where you are the chairman, or the chief executive, operating, technology or financial officer; QAR 80,000 for every other executive director title; and five years spent in senior executive management.

Who is allowed to employ you

A direct local contract with a listed public shareholding company, a bank, financial institution or insurer licensed by the central bank or the financial centre regulator, a consulting firm serving state bodies, or a state-owned company.

Permanent residence

The interior ministry's own route, under the 2018 law. It counts twenty years of lawful residence for someone born abroad, ten for someone born here, and asks for income, clean conduct and Arabic.

What is published, and what is not

The application charge for permanent residence covers the whole family and is not refunded. The executive route publishes no fee at all, and neither route publishes a processing standard, so we quote the stages instead of a date.

What the executive status actually carries

It is renewable, runs up to ten years and needs no sponsor, which is the substantive difference from an ordinary work residence permit. It also lets you sponsor dependants and relatives, issue family visit visas, sponsor domestic workers and own assets.

The evidence is heavy on attestation rather than on volume: an attested degree, attested experience letters with the CV, three months of certified bank statements, valid health insurance, and from the company side the establishment card, the commercial registration, the board's appointment decision, the employment letter and the contract itself.

Sources: salary by title, the five-year requirement, the accepted employer categories and the ten-year renewable status without a sponsor — the national residency programme (English and Arabic pages checked against each other on 24 September 2026); the twenty and ten year counts, the QR 3,000 application and card charges, conduct and language conditions — Ministry of Interior.

Stages of work

Reading the title as the criteria read it.

We put the exact wording of your appointment beside the list of named officers, because the difference between being on that list and beside it is thirty thousand riyals a month in required salary.

Testing the employer against the categories.

The company is checked against the accepted kinds of employer before anything else, since no amount of personal evidence rescues a contract from a business the route does not accept.

Getting the attestations moving.

Degree, experience letters and bank statements all have to be attested, and that is the slow part of this file. It starts first so the nomination is not held up waiting for paper from three countries.

The employer nominates, then you apply.

This route begins on the company's side. We prepare the establishment card, commercial registration, board resolution, employment letter and contract so the nomination goes in complete rather than twice.

Identity card and the work permit.

Notification from the labour ministry is followed by the identity document and the special work permit. We track both, because the status is only usable once the second one exists.

Checking whether the long door is open too.

Where you have already lived here for years, we count the time against the permanent residence rule and give you a straight answer on whether the language and income conditions put it within reach.
