When you need company registration in DMCC

The zone is already chosen
The question of zone or mainland is behind you. What is left is the regime of one zone: its activity list, its workspace rule and its capital.
The business covers several lines
Each activity on the zone's list carries its own requirements, and some of them cannot share a licence with anything else.
You build, publish or advise on games
The zone runs a dedicated Gaming Centre and has a group of gaming activities of its own, with separate entries for studios, publishers and consultancies.
You hoped to register without a desk
The zone sells registration only with a workspace. Every package includes a desk or an office, and some activities name specific premises, such as an office or a shop.
The capital has to be paid in somewhere
Most activities carry a minimum share capital of AED 50,000. It is paid in at registration, and part of it then sits as credit on the zone's portal.
What you get
- A DMCC licence with the activities you need
- A workspace those activities accept
- Share capital paid as the zone requires
- Officers appointed within the zone's limits
- The establishment card and the visa quota
What is required to register a company in DMCC

DMCC is a free zone in Dubai, covering Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Uptown Dubai. How a zone compares with the mainland we cover in more detail on the company registration in the UAE page, and an open choice of country belongs to jurisdiction selection.
The rest of what we do in the country is on the UAE page. Tax in the zone is covered by corporate tax in the UAE, and the account by bank account opening.
The workspace comes with the package
The zone does not register a company without a workspace: every package includes a flexi desk, a co-working desk or an office.
Gaming activities accept any type of workspace, so a co-working desk is enough. Some activities do need a physical office, and we check that before you pay.
The visa quota follows the workspace, not the licence type. Quotas and conditions are on talent and gamedev visas, the golden visa and the director visa.
Share capital
The minimum share capital runs from nothing to AED 1,000,000 and depends on your activity; most often it is AED 50,000.
Under the zone's regulations a share is paid up in full when it is allotted. Where the package costs no more than the capital, the capital goes in at the payment stage: the package price is deducted, and the balance stays on the zone's portal for later services such as visas or licence changes.
That balance is not refundable. The money is not lost, but it does not come back either: it becomes credit for the zone's own services.
A DMCC company may have two CEOs, but only one manager and one secretary.
The licence is renewed every year
A licence is renewed on or before the expiry date written on it: without a valid one, no business may be run in the zone. Trading and service licences can be renewed for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years at once; industrial and some regulated activities are limited to one year.
Gaming in DMCC
The zone runs a Gaming Centre, a facility for gaming businesses in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, and keeps gaming activities as a separate group. The right entry depends on the company's role.
A studio that makes games
Gaming Development Services covers creating and developing video, mobile and PC games. Gaming Studio also takes in content, technology, distribution and publishing.
A publisher
Gaming Publisher is for firms holding the publishing rights to games, whether the game was developed in-house or by an outside developer.
A consultancy or research firm
Gaming Consultancy Services covers strategic, management, marketing and branding advice to the industry. Gaming Industry Research Services covers market research.
Training and esports
Some entries bring in another authority. Gaming Academy, for example, needs approval from the Dubai Sports Council.

Stages of work
The activities, before the package
We will match what the company will do to entries on the zone's list and check each one's requirements for premises, approvals and capital, before anything is paid.
The workspace and the package
We will pick the package whose workspace suits those activities and the visas you need, and flag any activity that asks for a physical office.
Shareholders, officers and the name
We will prepare the shareholders' documents, set up the officers within the zone's limits and get the name and the constitution into the form the zone accepts.
The application and the capital
We will take the application through the zone's portal and arrange the share capital at the payment stage.
The licence and what follows
Once the licence and the establishment card are issued, we will move on to the bank account, the visas and any outside approval your activities need. We will also name the licence renewal date.

FAQ
For most activities it is AED 50,000. The figure belongs to the activity: for some it rises to AED 1,000,000, and a few need no capital at all. The zone's company regulations name no figure and leave the minimum to the registrar, so it is read once the activities are chosen, and we check it before you pay for the package.
Without a separate office, yes; without any workspace, no. Every DMCC package includes a flexi desk, a co-working desk or an office, and the zone does not sell registration without one. For most activities a desk is enough. A physical office, a shop or other specific premises is needed only where the activity names it, as for patent and trademark agents.
No. Legal consultancy in DMCC is a standalone activity: nothing else can share a licence with it, and the zone cites the position of The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department. It also needs a DNFBP undertaking letter and that department's approval. Corporate services run the other way: they exclude any kind of legal services and require a compliance officer.
It depends on what the studio does. Gaming Development Services covers creating and developing video, mobile and PC games. Gaming Studio also takes in content, technology, distribution and publishing. A company that holds publishing rights takes Gaming Publisher. All three accept any type of workspace, so the co-working desk in the package is enough, and the minimum share capital for them is AED 50,000.
No. The capital goes in at the payment stage, where the package costs no more than the capital: the package price is deducted, and what remains stays on the zone's portal for later services such as visas or licence changes. That balance is not refundable, but it is not lost either — it works as credit for the zone's own services. Under the zone's regulations a share is paid up in full when it is allotted.
