When you need a Qatar family visa

Your profession is the first filter
Before any number is looked at, the private-sector condition asks what you do. The approval reaches technical and specialised occupations, and stops outside them.
The salary is read off a bank
A figure in a contract proves the offer. What proves the income is six months of statements from an accredited bank inside the country, and the two do not always agree.
Company housing moves the number
The pay condition is not a single figure. It drops where the employer provides a family housing facility, which turns a benefit into part of the immigration case.
A visit is only one month long
Family visit arrivals are admitted for a month. Staying longer means passing the medical and applying before that month runs out, and the daily fine afterwards is fixed.
The renewal window is ninety days
A residence permit that lapses can be renewed within a defined window, and the charge for the delay accrues by the day up to a published maximum.
What you get
- Profession and pay tested first
- The bank evidence assembled
- Attested and notarised papers
- Medical and fingerprints sequenced
- Every deadline in your calendar
What a Qatar family visa requires

Qatar answers the family question with a list, and the list is unusually specific about the sponsor. Three things are examined: the permit you hold, the work you do, and the money that actually lands in your account. A family case rarely fails on the relatives. It fails on one of those three.
Where the employing entity has yet to exist, that is company registration in Qatar. Everything else we run in the country is gathered on the Qatar page.
What the published conditions actually list
The applying resident must hold a valid residence permit, and the marriage certificate must be attested by the competent authorities. From there the list splits by employer. A person working for a government or semi-government entity has to have family housing from that employer, or a family housing allowance written into the employment contract, and submits an official letter confirming the profession and the salary. A person in the private sector is read against a profession and a figure.
| What is examined | The published condition |
|---|---|
| The sponsor's own permit | valid residence permit |
| Marriage certificate | attested by the competent authorities |
| Private-sector occupation | technical or specialised, and not a labour job |
| Private-sector salary | not less than QAR 10,000 |
| Salary with family housing | QAR 7,000 |
| Proof of that salary | six-month bank statement |
| Public sector instead | housing or a housing allowance |
Why the bank statement matters more than the contract
The private-sector condition is proved with six months of statements from one of the accredited banks in the country, alongside a notarised employment contract and a copy of the educational certificate that establishes the profession. A salary agreed on paper but paid irregularly, paid from abroad, or paid into an account outside Qatar will not read as income here. Six months is also a planning number: a household that arrives before the account has that history waits for the history rather than for a decision.
The clocks that catch families out
Three deadlines do most of the damage, and all three are published. A family visit arrival is admitted for one month; extending it means completing the medical checkup before that month ends and applying, and the fine for missing it is QAR 200 for each day of delay, to a maximum of QAR 12,000. An expatriate entering on a residence visa has thirty days to complete the medical examination, after which fingerprints are taken and the residency itself is completed. A residence permit is renewed within ninety days of expiry, and beyond that the charge is QAR 10 a day up to QAR 6,000.

Stages of work
Profession and pay tested against the list.
We take your job title as it is written in the contract and on the residence permit, put it against the technical and specialised condition, and check the figure against the published threshold in both of its versions.
The bank history gathered.
Six months of statements from an accredited bank inside the country, matched against the notarised contract and the educational certificate that establishes the profession. Mismatches here are fixed before filing rather than during it.
Papers attested and translated.
A marriage certificate attested by the competent authorities, birth certificates for the children, and certified translations. Documents issued abroad set the pace of the whole case, so they start first.
Arrival, medical, fingerprints.
Entry on a residence visa starts a thirty-day clock for the medical examination; fingerprints follow it and the residency is completed after that. We sequence the three so that no step waits on the one behind it.
Renewals held inside the window.
Every permit in the household is tracked to its expiry date, with renewal filed inside the ninety-day window, because the charge for lateness runs by the day.

FAQ
For a private-sector employee, not less than QAR 10,000 a month, or QAR 7,000 where the employer provides a family housing facility. The figure does not stand alone: the occupation has to be technical or specialised rather than a labour one, and the salary is proved with a six-month statement from an accredited bank in the country, together with a notarised employment contract.
No. An employee of a government or semi-government entity is examined on housing in place of a salary figure: either family housing provided by the employer, or a family housing allowance specified in the employment contract. In place of bank statements, an official letter confirming the profession and the salary is submitted. The requirement for a valid residence permit and an attested marriage certificate applies either way.
A family visit arrival is admitted for one month. Staying longer means completing the medical checkup before that month ends and then applying for an extension. If the visa is not extended before it expires, the fine is QAR 200 for each day of delay, capped at QAR 12,000. The month is short enough that the medical appointment is usually the first thing booked.
Three steps in a fixed order. The medical examination has to be completed within thirty days of entering the country. Fingerprints are taken once the medical procedures are finished. Only then are the residency formalities completed. Each step depends on the one before it, so a delay early in the sequence moves everything after it rather than being absorbed later.
It is renewed within ninety days of expiry. Beyond that window the charge is QAR 10 for each day, up to a maximum of QAR 6,000. Because every permit in a household hangs on the sponsor's, one missed renewal usually turns into several, which is why the dates are worth holding on a single calendar rather than on separate reminders.
