Polish Player Claim Defense for Global Gamedev Company
Client
International gaming company with 50M+ players

Challenge
An international gaming company with more than 50 million players received a legal claim from a user in Poland whose account had been blocked several years earlier. The player alleged that over 50,000 euros had been spent on the account through 845 transactions and demanded a full refund along with moral damages, statutory fines, and legal costs. A court case could have set a negative precedent, opening the door to similar claims from other users and creating financial and reputational exposure. The client needed to stop the conflict from escalating and resolve it without litigation — in a dispute where missteps carried both regulatory and reputational risk.
Solution
We built a pre-litigation defense designed to neutralize the claim before it reached court:
- Position assessment — reviewed all available evidence and gave the client a clear view of the strengths and weaknesses of the case.
- Response strategy — agreed key arguments with the client and aligned the tone of engagement to reduce aggression and steer toward resolution.
- Legal reply — drafted a comprehensive response addressing each allegation with grounded legal and factual counterpoints.
- Core defenses — raised the statute of limitations, compliance with consumer protection rules, and the legitimacy of the IP and licensing structure underpinning the product.
Result
The player withdrew all claims. The client avoided court proceedings, reputational damage, and a possible wave of similar disputes from other users.
The case preserved both legal standing and financial stability — and set a defensible template for handling future player claims at the scale of a 50-million-user product.
