NFT Game Legal Framework for Global Launch
Client
International game developer with 250M+ players

Challenge
An international game developer with a player base of over 250 million was preparing its first NFT-integrated Web3 release — a global launch targeting all markets except the United States and the UAE. The operating entity sat in the UAE, while the game mechanics relied on tokenization, player-generated content, and decentralized NFT trading via third-party marketplaces. User-facing documentation had to address blockchain assets, NFT minting and trading, and platform-specific limitations in language a non-legal audience could follow. The client needed a jurisdiction-neutral framework that held up across dozens of regimes — before exposing players and the brand to live blockchain transactions.
Solution
We built the user-facing legal layer for the Web3 release end to end:
- Jurisdiction-neutral Privacy Policy — drafted for a global audience across all target markets, covering data processing for blockchain transactions, wallet interactions, and player-generated NFT content.
- Terms of Use for Web3 mechanics — structured rules for NFT minting, in-game asset trading, third-party marketplace integrations, and platform-specific limitations of the release.
- Compliance with global standards — aligned both documents with international privacy and consumer protection benchmarks, while keeping the language plain enough for a non-legal audience.
- Risk allocation around decentralized activity — addressed intellectual property implications of player-minted NFTs and exposure tied to secondary market activity outside the client's control.
Result
The NFT game launched globally with the legal infrastructure needed to let players generate and commercialize in-game assets as NFTs, and is now operating on the international market.
The framework let the client blend classic game publishing with Web3 mechanics — on documentation that holds across dozens of jurisdictions and supports further expansion into blockchain gaming.
